WILAA is a space for practitioners to help each other learn to support students while navigating these complex spaces. We aim to create spaces for practitioners to share knowledge and tools to help make the process of accessibility and accommodation easier for all involved in work-integrated learning (WIL), particularly students.

WILAA Events

Speaker Series

In our Inaugural Year, 2022, we held two panels. The first focused on hearing from students who used accommodations during WIL. The second panel heard from professionals who support students in WIL. Check back regularly for upcoming events!

Lunch and Learn

Taking place over lunch-hour, we held a 45-minute session focused on accessibility and accommodation in WIL. Before a general discussion, Scott Allardyce led a brief discussion about how to support students in WIL navigating accommodations to create accessible workplaces. Where and Who does WILLA Service?

Founding board members of WILAA are in the Greater Toronto Area. However, we hope to gain membership from all of Ontario through our online spaces and events.

WILAA recognizes the importance of accessible WIL in all areas of education. Therefore, we are actively working to create open and inviting spaces for WIL professionals beyond healthcare.

Creating work-integrated learning spaces that support people’s culture, religion, ability, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality is vital to equitable education. At WILAA (Work-Integrated Learning. Accessibility, Accommodation) Community of Practice, we strive to make spaces where open, trusting relationships that help people learn and share knowledge about equitable WIL. WILAA is particularly concerned about the lack of accessibility and accommodation within WIL. These limitations are a factor in disabled students leaving their education programs or limiting their employment.

Join us by signing up to our mailing list to help us with the following.
